Chiropractic care is a regulated health profession that focuses on musculoskeletal conditions involving the joints, muscles, nerves and soft tissues of the body. Every cell, muscle, organ and tissue in your body is impacted by your nervous system. If a nerve becomes stretched, pinched or irritated due a misaligned vertebrae the rest of your body is negatively impacted and you will likely feel pain and discomfort. Also, irritated nerves can overstimulate organs or tissues contributing to allergic reactions, twitching, excess stomach acid and other types of hyperactive organ functions. Chiropractors are trained to locate misaligned vertebrae then using manipulation, chiropractors can correct the displaced joint. This is one of the best ways to relieve pain or other potential symptoms and to optimize the function of your nervous system and the rest of your body.
At Surdel Chiropractic, our care focuses on pain relief, spinal correction and maintenance. The initial goal of most patients is pain relief. In this stage of care, we utilize techniques that will quickly reduce the pressure on nerves in order to provide symptomatic relief. Once the pain has subsided, the patient may choose to continue care for spinal correction. This type of care is longer in duration as it requires balancing the hips and pelvis to help straighten the spine which removes pressure on the spinal nerves. The spinal nerves exit the spine at every vertebral level and can become “pinched” causing pain and inadequate nerve transmission which can lead to other health issues. When the spine straightens, pressure is taken off the spinal nerves so the nervous system can function optimally.

1) X-rays are required in some cases with adults. Once Dr .Gilmore has taken a case history and performed an examination he will determine if x-rays are necessary. An x-ray helps determine the source of your problem and to investigate the presence of any pathological processes.
